Although I love all of the seasons, summer is certainly when we get out and about the most it seems. Thought I would add some new photos to depict what we have been up to over the past few weeks.
I love seeing wildlife when we are out and about. Had a good laugh when I read this sign at a local trail – wasn’t sure it there were killer frogs ahead. (It was part of a larger sign, but the placement of the warning and the photo I thought was humorous.) The chipmunk was on yet another trail, and the bunny was quite content eating the purple flowers that grace our drive.
One of our best finds this summer was a local community garden. On property owned by the Peterborough Poverty Reduction Network, which once housed the Motherhouse of the Sisters of Saint Joseph (1895), the garden is open to all and donations to assist with the gardening costs are accepted. We loved searching for the plots marked “ready for picking” and enjoyed our bounty over the course of the week.
I have been busy in my own gardens, which are not extensive, but have produced some beautiful flowers and EXCELLENT tomatoes. Love sharing the tasty “Midnight Snackers” with family and friends, who are always surprised by the intense flavor. Here I am next to a sunflower in the community garden, while we are anxiously awaiting the flowers on the two very large plants in our front bed to bloom.
I also thought I would share what is hopefully an omen of good luck headed my way, a 3-yolk egg from the local egg farm. This was a first for me!
